December TV: Christmas Holiday Specials

December is filled with holiday-themed shows and movies to put you in the Christmas spirit.
Start by getting your Christmas on and tune in to our channel 99, where you will find the cozy fireplace glowing and non-stop holiday music playing. The perfect background for all your special moments and parties this season.
Next, check out some of the new movies coming out this month, starting with Hallmark Channel. True to its tradition, Hallmark is going all-out, unveiling twelve new original specials in its “Countdown to Christmas,” including:
“Best Christmas Party Ever”
Original Movie World Premiere – Saturday, December 13 at 9pm on Hallmark
In this new film, Torrey DeVitto ["Pretty Little Liars"] plays a New York party planner who is organising a special Christmas party for a city toy store. Not everyone is in the Christmas spirit, however, and a powerful corporation tries to thwart her plans. Deciding to follow her heart, she goes forward with the event anyway, and in the process finds true love just in time for the holidays.
“The Christmas Parade”
Original Movie World Premiere – Sunday, December 14 at 9pm on Hallmark
In this Hallmark original film, AnnaLynne McCord ["Dallas"] stars alongside Jefferson Brown and Drew Scott. McCord plays Hayley, a morning television host and anchor who flees for a new town after her fiancé humiliates her on live TV. In an attempt to reinvent her life in a new small town, she rediscovers the spirit of Christmas when she finds herself working alongside Logan, played by Jefferson Brown.
Hallmark Channel is also featuring holiday-themed episodes of “Home & Family,” its Emmy® nominated lifestyle series, co-hosted by Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare.
Then, on New Year’s Day, Hallmark will broadcast the 126th Tournament of Roses Parade.

Lifetime is in the Christmas spirit as well, with lots of movies on offer, including:
“The Santa Con”
Premiering on December 13 at 9pm on Lifetime
In this film, Barry Watson ["Hart of Dixie"] plays a small-time con man whose parole officer orders him to take a low-paying job over the holidays as a Santa Claus in a department store. On his first day, hating the job, he flippantly promises a young boy [Billy, played by Tucker Meeks], that Santa will re-unite his estranged parents in time for Christmas. Billy’s siblings find out about the promise and confront Santa. Feeling guilty, he decides to try and make good on his promise, aided by an insightful female pastor [Wendy Williams]. The boy’s mother is played by Melissa Sagemiller ["Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"].
“Finding Mrs. Claus”
Saturday, December 13, at 11pm on Lifetime
Mrs. Claus [played by Mira Sorvino] feels neglected by her busy, overworked husband [Will Sasso], so she takes off for Las Vegas to help a little girl with her Christmas wish. When Santa finds out and goes looking for her in Sin City, things do not go as planned, and suddently Christmas is at risk.

“The Holiday”
Sunday, December 14, at 9pm on Lifetime
This is the story of a Los Angeles-based movie trailer editor [Cameron Diaz] and a British journalist [Kate Winslet] who each need a break from their troubled love lives, and at the last minute, swap homes for the holidays through a house exchange website. Each meets a new man [Jude Law, Jack Black] and finds romance in their new surroundings.

“Wake Up Call”
Premieres Friday, December 12 at 10pm on TNT
After headlining TNT’s “The Hero,” Dwayne ["The Rock"] Johnson is featured once again in this inspiring new series in which he helps ordinary people who are facing huge challenges in their everday lives – from dealing with dead-beat dads to trying to create a sports team or keep a struggling business afloat. In his inimitable motivational style, Johnson turns lives around, with daily 4am wake-up calls, coaching, goal-setting and emotional reunions.

“Spy World”
Series Premiere – December 21 at 10pm on Travel Channel
This new eight-episode series revisits and reconstructs real-life spy stories from World War II and the Cold War, taking viewers from Moscow to the back streets of Beirut to the posh clubs of New York City. Each episode is built around formerly classified case files from the the CIA and other international agencies. Watch as secrets are revealed and stolen, using an array of methods from suicide pills to secret codes, gadgetry and even dog pheromones.
