Photos: Official Opening Of Baileys Bay Bridge
[Updated with video] The official opening of the new Baileys Bay Railway Trail Footbridge was held this morning [Dec 13] with Governor George Ferguson, Minister of Public Works Patricia Gordon-Pamplin, representatives from the Department of Parks and Friends Of The Bermuda Trail and many others in attendance. We will post the video later on today, and in the meantime the photos are below.
Nice
No dogs allowed
Thank you for opening this. Now when I decide to give up my mega yacht or my land yacht for a stroll during the day, I don’t have to worry about idiots on bikes nearly hitting me as I walk along the road.
Well if you have that much money for mega yacht you should have moved it to the RBYC by now.
As for your land yacht …..keep painting the bottom.
“walk along the road”.?
Funny that. All yah brade yoo should have de stewart from yah club peek yoo hup.
Some people.
Please tell me what stops motorbikes from going across it? A sign?
You have a relevant question “Truth is killin’ me”. I would imagine they’ll erect borderlines with piping…One will be able to lift up a peddle bike yet it’ll be quite difficult lifting a motorbike
While you might want to stop bikes, what about those who use wheelchairs that want to be out in nature?
“Truth Is killin’ me” There is actually a gap between each bridge so unless they can jump over the foot and a half gap they will be screwed. If anything they won’t notice it and will deck out when they hit the gap.
I give it two weeks before that happens.
I would be more interested in stopping people from fishing from it then leaving their smelly mess behind. Worse yet kids jumping from it since the tide is known to be deceptively low there at times which one my get injured by striking the bottom.
Ya like Flatts bridge
I wish thank everyone that had something to do with bringing this to fruition. My family and I will be making use of the extension when walking our dogs along the railway trail.
Don’t forget to pick up their dirt!
We always carry / make use of their “pooper-scooper”…
Great news! This will be a real asset for residents and tourists alike. Now you can walk safely All the Way from Bailey’s Bay to the gas station at Crawl for an ice-cream and back, and enjoy not just the exercise (have to skip the ice-cream) but some of the most stunning (and least well known) views in Bermuda.
Clean up your dog mess. And no fishing from bridge..
Thank you to everyone involved, what a great project for Bermuda!
It’s a joy to see people just getting things done and not waiting on govt to do it! Well done n thank you to all involved!
Government played a large part in it you see that the Minister Of W&E was there to open as it was the Parks Department who worked many hours helping with this project and Continue to work on the same.
Two points.
Love this as it is in my old stamping grounds.
Used to get wet doing this same run.
Love the 100% positive(non political)comments.
So nice with no bickering.
Congrats to all.
A waste of good money – it’s an eyesore! — dogone thing looks ugly!
Serves no true purpose – the Money spent on this pink Elephant could have gone to a better place.
This Bridge seves only a few. — lets see if it last the next Hurricain.
Republican, perhaps you can suggest to the fundraisers and the people who donated funds, a more appropriate use of the monies, one that suits your fancies more.
Or you can choose not to use/appreciate it, particularly as your tax dollars weren’t used for this venture.
I miss the trains; a big mistake of Bermuda’s forefathers to dismantle Bermuda’s train tracks instead of having the foresight of upgrading the track despite the cost at that time. A Bermuda with this level of traffic on the roads is not a good trade off.
Well done to all involved in building the bridges. This project is an inspiration! These bridges are an asset to all in the community. Walking or running along the railway trail and bridges allows one to get closer to nature which is so good for both the body and mind. Thanks to all who played a part.
