[Updated] At approximately 6.00pm this evening [Jan 29] there was a collision in the area of Christ Church Lane and Middle Road in Devonshire, with a car driver colliding with a wall. Police and fire personnel attended the scene and traffic was temporarily impacted, however a tow truck removed the vehicle by 7.15pm, and traffic resumed as normal. Further details are unclear at this time, however we will update as able.

Update Jan 30, 9.45am: The police said the driver — a 31 year old Devonshire man — was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 6pm on Thursday, January 29th first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle collision at the junction of Middle Road and Christ Church Lane in Devonshire.

“It appears that a car was being driven along Middle Road when it collided with a wall. The driver, a 31 year old Devonshire man, was apparently treated at the scene by EMTs for minor injuries and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

“Both the wall and vehicle involved were damaged. Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses that have not already come forward are encouraged to contact Constable Dionne Lansiquot at the Hamilton Police Station on telephone number 247-1704. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.”

Sad but true. At 6pm there would have been other vehicles in the vicinity, likely. Thank goodness nobody else was struck.

I’m glad no one else was hurt, but I agree with the insurance claims comment, sick of it, people grow up and drive responsibly! All these people that have to go to the ER for accidents that can be avoided take away funds and time from people that really need them. Grow Up!

    • Bermyguy says:

accidents are a part of life everywhere around the world, why do people make a fuss about them like its brand new. no one plans for them to happen they jus do thats why they are called accidents.

      • PBanks says:

But when it’s something preventable, like driving drunk, that is an added frustration as opposed to something like brake failure or the like.

      • Ann says:

Agreed, they are a part of life, but drunken ones aren’t! Who’s going to fix the beautiful wall?

  8. Joonya says:

Hope the wall makes a full recovery.

I know I know.. some of you will think thats insensitive, but he was allegedly drunk, sympathy here.
