Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse Closing: Hurricane Repairs

The Ministry of Public Works has advised the public that Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse in Southampton will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2015 until further notice.

“The purpose of the closure is to enable work crews to undertake repairs at the Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse property that was affected by Hurricane Gonzalo,” a spokesperson said.

“It is anticipated that it will take approximately six weeks for the repairs to be completed. The Ministry of Public Works apologizes in advance for any inconvenience.

    I assume the minister is referring to the rust that was suppose to be taken care of when the lighthouse was refurbished in May 2014 which was way before the storms, which the so called contractor was suppose to remove… Will the taxpayer be paying to have this done the second time around in less than a year?
