January 9, 2015

Another group of Royal Air Force aircraft landed at the L.F.Wade International Airport on Wednesday afternoon [Jan 7], with the four Typhoons and one A330-200 Voyager tanker having traveled from Lajes, Azores and expected to stay overnight, departing in the morning depending on weather conditions along their route.

They mark the second group to land in as many days, with the first group landing on Tuesday and departing just hours before this group landed.

The four Typhoons and one A330-200 Voyager tanker traveled from Lajes, Azores and are headed for a stop in Florida and then on to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada to participate in Red Flag, which has been billed as the “largest and most complex air warfighting exercise in the world.”

In addition to the US Air Force and UK RAF aircraft, the Royal Australian Air Force also participate in Red Flag.
