BEF Sponsors Clinics From Canadian Trainer
Bermuda’s junior horse riders were recently treated to complimentary instructional riding clinics by invited Canadian Trainer, Mr. Shane Pearson, courtesy of sponsorship from the Bermuda Equestrian Federation [BEF].
In all, 34 junior riders aged 7-17 participated in 11 junior group clinics held over two days.
Juniors were placed together in various groups by their coaches to better facilitate the level of training, and they were asked to ride through exercises to work on both flat and jumping techniques.
Mr. Pearson is part of the team at Stonewood Equestrian, a training facility in the area of Toronto, Canada for hunter/jumper riders and young horse development.
He showed successfully as a junior and amateur rider in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions before making the decision to pursue a career in the industry.
Mr. Pearson said, “I was honored to have been invited to teach such an amazing group of young people and will leave with how much the rest of the equestrian community could learn from a small island of riding enthusiasts.
“I was inspired to return to Canada with the Bermuda attitude that anything is possible.”
