Court: Drunk Driver Had To Be Tasered Twice

February 3, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Feb 3], a 29 year old man admitted driving whilst impaired on 18th January 2015 and violently resisting arrest.

Dennis Landy admitted driving whilst impaired on 18th January 2015 and violently resisting arrest. Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Mr. Landy $1,200 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for eighteen months for the drunk driving offence; and fined him another $200 for the resisting arrest offence.

Prosecutor Ms Nicole Smith told the Magistrate that a man on a motorcycle had drawn the attention of police. Police then stopped Mr Landy around 1:45am that morning. When stopped, Mr Landy told police: “Yeah. I know I’m drunk.” Shortly after, Mr Landy said: “I’m tapped.”

Mr Landy became agitated and hostile. When attempting to handcuff him, police were forced to Tazer Mr Landy. However, Mr Landy continued to act aggressively and charged at the constables, so police tasered Mr Landy a second time. This time Mr Landy was subdued and handcuffed.
