P4 Student Provides Aid To Friend With Asthma

February 17, 2015

The quick-thinking actions of a St. George’s Preparatory School P4 student has earned him the title of “Action Asthma Advocate,” with the youngster providing aid to an asthma-sufferer in need.

A poster created to commemorate young Donovan’s actions says, “On Thursday, February 5, 2015 Donovan, along with 149 boys, participated in the Under 9 Boys Interschool Cross Country Race at National Stadium/Arboretum.

“During the race, Donovan noticed a boy from another school, who he knew from camp, was trying to use his asthma pump and he was having difficulty breathing.

“He told the boy to stop and take a breath. Then Donovan did a great thing – he got help. Donovan walked the boy back to the street where there were adults that could help. Then Donovan continued to finish the race.”

Donovan — who learned about asthma from the school asthma nurse – said, “I don’t have asthma but I knew I had to get him help.

“It felt good that I was able to help my friend. I think that if some of your friends have asthma, you can help by keeping an eye on them because they might have an asthma attack and need help.”
