Bermuda Municipal Elections Set For May 7th

[Updated] Today [Mar 19] the Parliamentary Registrar announced that the date for the 2015 Bermuda Municipal elections has been set for May 7, 2015.

The Parliamentary Registrar has issued a writ of election to commence the Municipal elections for the Corporations of Hamilton and St. George’s. Registration for Municipal Residents and Business Ratepayers will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

Business ratepayers and municipal residents can check their registrations at the Hamilton post office. St. George’s post office, Hamilton Police station, their respective Corporations of Hamilton or St. Georges and the Parliamentary Registry Office located on the third floor of the Craig Appin House, Wesley Street in Hamilton.

Municipal Residents can also register and check their registration details online. For more information on the Municipal Elections visit the Parliamentary Registry website at www.elections.gov.bm.

Update 4.28pm: A spokesperson for the City of Hamilton said, “The Parliamentary Registrar has announced that the Municipal Election for the City of Hamilton will be held on Thursday, May 7th, 2015. Location for the City of Hamilton Polls will be the Seventh Day Adventist Church Hall on King Street.

“Nomination Day will be Thursday, April 16th, Advanced Polling day will be Thursday, April 30th.

“The deadline to register to vote or to change Nominees for Owners and Occupiers of commercial properties located within the municipality will close at 5pm on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. No registrations or changes to the register will be accepted after this date.

“Registration forms can be obtained from the Corporation of Hamilton offices in City Hall or from the Parliamentary Registrar’s office in the Craig Appin House on Wesley Street.

“Completed forms, along with supporting documents, must be submitted to City Hall no later than 5pm on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015 for the attention of The Secretary.

“For any and all information regarding registration and the supporting documents required, please call 279-5257 or email info@cityhall.bm.”

    A fair Municipal election or not? In any event it’s a shame that the Salvation Army aren’t going to be relocated in time to avoid any possibilities e.g. “suspicions / shenanigans.”

      Team Hamilton was just another PLP massive fail but hidden by putting forward a PLP surrogate as the Mayor.

      Thank goodness the last vestiges are almost gone.

      Maybe Graham can take a selfie for the wall – that is about as much as I am willing to pay for as a rate payer. Can’t wait to vote these wannabes out of office. Oh, and hey when and where did the “Black Mayors Conference” get held – think we all missed that one, huh!!
