Furbert Named Trade Union Congress President
The Bermuda Trade Union Congress [BTUC] met last Thursday, and according to its constitution, the officers of President and Vice Presidents were rotated amongst the Presidents of the affiliates.
The BTUC named the new officers as:
- Brother Chris Furbert, B.I.U. – President – B.T.U.C.
- Brother Jason Hayward, B.P.S.U. – 1st Vice President – B.T.U.C.
- Brother Raymond Bean, E.S.T.U. – 2nd Vice President – B.T.U.C.
- Brother Michael Charles, B.U.T. – General Secretary/Treasure
BTUC Member Unions and Associations:
- Bermuda Federation of Musicians & Variety Artists
- Bermuda Industrial Union
- Bermuda Public Services Union
- Bermuda Union of Teachers
- Bermuda Fire Services Association
- Electrical Supply Trade Union
- Bermuda Police Officers Association [Associate Member]
- Bermuda Prison Officers Association
Well who would have guessed otherwise at this list of officers given what transpired last month. They spoke in that order during the meetings.
your point??
Every Generation had and has Leaders that are not excepted by a certain segment of society and in this day and time its their turn.
And whats pathetic is,there are Surrogates that join in with the certain segment of society who use them as pawns against their own kindred.
Very PATHETIC.
I thought you’d changed your theme song when I read “excepted”, but then you were right back to your usual jingle in paragraph two.
The Truth is an offence but not a sin, form Dr. Gordon to Chris Furbert and all in between you would always have those who hate the Leaders who fight for the oppressed and down trodden.
Same S!@# different Generation.
Are these paid positions?
What does their pay package look like?
I imagine the many unemployed “brothers and sisters of the Unions want to be informed. (Or do them “brothers and sister” not care?)
The brothers and sisters of the Chamber of Commerce were not happy with Bob Richards after his budget raised taxes and took away some concessions !
So you agree we are all sharing the sacrifice now? Well, except for these guys anyway……
True…but they understand why it happened and as business owners/managers they must find it perplexing, at least. Still, they will do what they need to do to maintain their businesses. They won’t over staff or employ people by accumulating debt.
But the brothers and sisters had no problem three months ago when Furbert increased union dues by 17%? That was perfectly understandable because “the union has to be run as a business”, according to Furbert at the time.
Actually, they weren’t happy with having to bear more pain while the public sector got away unscathed.
If they are it will be less than Hanbury’s $1,000 a day who dont give a S!@# about the average Bermudian compared to these soldiers who fight on behalf of the average Bermudian worker.
Next.
Well….you or anyone else could have applied for this job.
I happen to think his pay should be more performance/results based, do you like the sound of that?
Well if his job is that important then why the F!@# are we paying the Minister of Tourism for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is one of the crux of the issue right now with the unions, they don’t need soldiers in charge, they need leaders, and brother Chris and brother Jason have shown they fall short of that title
That would be rather *transparent* of them, but I doubt the leadership would want, or will be required, to disclose.
I guess the Union is similar to the church. Women, Keep your mouths shut and stand in the back.
Don’t know what type of church you attend, but now women are Pastors and preaching.
HOW MUCH DO THEY ALL GET PAID?!?!
Not as much as the $1,000 a day Hanbury.
