Wrecking Crew And 3Hearts Films To Screen

April 13, 2015

An entertaining music documentary that has won 10 international festival awards, and a French love triangle drama starring legendary actress Catherine Deneuve, will screen at the Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, on Sunday April 19.

Screening at 3 p.m., The Wrecking Crew tells the story of the legendary studio musicians – including future star Glen Campbell – who played on virtually every hit record of the 1960s and ‘70s. Often replacing the band members in the recording studio, The Wrecking Crew recorded the Grammy Award-winning “Record of the Year’ for six consecutive years.

From “Be My Baby” to “California Girls”, “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin” to “Up, Up and Away”, “Viva Las Vegas” to “Mr. Tambourine Man”, the group played on all of them.

The film includes wonderful interviews with Brian Wilson, Cher, Nancy Sinatra, Herb Alpert, Roger McGuinn, Gary Lewis, Dick Clark, Al Jardine, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz, Leon Russell, Campbell and other members of The Wrecking Crew – plus clips from many of the great songs by the musicians.

“Music lovers will adore this film, and so will musicians for the behind-the-scenes look at how a band of studio musicians had such an incredible influence on popular music,” says Weekend Film Series programmer Duncan Hall.

Screening at 5.15 p.m., 3Hearts is a touching and tense drama starring screen legend Catherine Deneuve, Chiara Mastroianni [Deneuve’s daughter in real life and in this film], Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Benoît Poelvoorde. It was selected as the opening night film at March’s annual Rendezvous With French Cinema at Lincoln Centre in New York.

3 Hearts  Trailer

One night in provincial France, Marc [Poelvoorde] meets Sylvie [Gainsbourg] and they fall madly in love. They agree to meet by a fountain in Paris — but fate conspires against them and sends each in a separate direction.

Sylvie reunites with her ex and leaves France; Marc falls in love and marries. What neither knows is that Marc’s new bride is Sylvie’s sister, Sophie [Mastroianni].

Upon Sylvie’s return to France, the spark between her and Marc is reignited in ways that will forever alter the relationships between sister and sister and husband and wife.

Tickets are on sale now at the Oceans Gift Shop, BUEI, or by calling 294-0204. The ‘Weekend Film Series’, sponsored by Gosling’s, is a joint production of Bermuda Documentary Film Festival director Duncan Hall and the BUEI.
