Schedule Released For 44th Carifta Games

April 4, 2015

The schedule for the 44th Carifta Games has been released, with 12 local athletes set to represent Bermuda at the regional track and field event.

The Games, set to kick off today [Apr 4] in St. Kitts & Nevis, see competition between the region’s top athletes, representing 26 countries, in two categories, including under-18 and under-20.

Shadow Minister for Youth, Sport, Community and Culture Michael Weeks said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party today extends best wishes to the Bermuda Carifta team competing in St. Kitts and Nevis. As our representatives we know that you will display the highest level of sportsmanship, competitive spirit and grace.”

BNAA President Donna Watson previously said, “We are very excited with this team of 12 athletes and have no doubt they will represent Bermuda at these games very well. As is our normal the majority of the team is made up of jumpers and middle distance runners which is Bermuda’s strength.

“We are pleased with these athletes as they have performed very well over these past 4 days during the Inter-school sports and our last Carifta trial. Our goal this year when a team is selected is to make sure the athletes are competing and training consistently right up to the time the team is selected.

“We, the Board and the coaches, are all in agreement that each athlete that has been selected has met this criteria and is well prepared for Carifta.”

Accompanying the team will be Jarita Vickers and Rohaan Simons. The Bermuda team includes:
