Video & Results: International Town Crier Contest

The City of Hamilton announced the full results of the 2015 Bermuda International Town Crier Competition, which brought together 25 hopeful Town Criers from the United Kingdom and Canada along with their escorts to Bermuda to compete for a number of awards and be crowned the Bermuda International Town Crier Champion 2015.

In addition, the City also hosted a Junior Town Crier competition including four participants from several middle schools.

Criers were judged on sustained volume from a 20 meter distance, clarity heard throughout their cry, diction, inflection, bearing and confidence pertaining to the manner in which the crier moves, and the content of the cry with adherence to the required subject.

The winning Town Criers were

  • Junior Town Crier Runner Up: Ayanna Peniston representing Mount Saint Agnes Academy
  • Junior Town Crier Champion: Dequan Trott representing Dellwood Middle School
  • Best Dressed Couple: Les Whiting and Karen – Town Crier for the Town of Petrolia, Ontario & County of Lambton, Canada
  • Best Dressed Crier: Christopher Whyman – Town Crier of Kingston, Canada
  • Best St. George’s Cry: Mark Wylie – Calne Town Crier, United Kingdom
  • Best Dockyard Cry: Mark Wylie – Calne Town Crier, United Kingdom
  • Best Hamilton Cry: Mark Wylie – Calne Town Crier, United Kingdom
  • Overall 2nd Runner Up: Christopher Whyman – Town Crier of Kingston, Ontario, Canada
  • Overall 1st Runner Up: James Stewart – Town Crier of Glasgow, Ontario, Canada
  • Bermuda International Town Crier Champion 2015: Mark Wylie – Calne Town Crier, United Kingdom
