Tennis Quarter-Final & Semi-Finals Results
The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association sanctioned tournament going on at the Pomander Gate Tennis Club continued with a Men’s A Singles Quarter-Final and Ladies Semi-Finals action.
In the Men’s A Quarter-Final match Tournament number one seed Gavin Manders took on Michael Way. Manders won the first set 6 – 0, he was leading the second set 2 – 0 when Way retired hurt.
Ladies A Singles number one seed Cayla Cross took on Kirstin Saltus in their Semi-Final battle with Cross winning in straight sets 6 – 4, 6 – 3. Saltus battled hard even overcoming an injury sustained to her left knee, but the number one seed was just too strong on the day.
While the number two seed Jacklyn Lambert went down in three sets, Zaire Simmons coming off a good season with Virginia State University won the first set 7-6, ten-seven in the tie-breaker, but Lambert fought back and won the second set 6-2, but Simmons would break Lambert three times to win the third and final set 6-0.
