Cricket: Premier & First Division Weekend Results

Southampton Rangers, St. David’s Cricket Club, Willow Cuts, St. George’s Cricket Club and Western Stars all recorded victories in this weekend’s First and Premier Division cricket action.

Premier Division

Southampton Rangers Win by 12 Runs: Southampton Rangers 88 Bailey’s Bay 76

At the Southampton Oval, Southampton Rangers batted first in a top of the table clash, they were bowled out for 88. Janeiro Tucker was their top scorer with 22, Southampton Rangers were 57/9 before Vernon Eve and Ryan Belboda put on a 31 run 10th wicket partnership to get them to 88. Kyle Hodsoll was the pick of the Bailey’s Bay bowlers with figures of 7-1-15-4.

In reply what seemed to be a low score became a mountain of a challenge for Bailey’s Bay as they fell 12 runs short of their target bowled out for 76. Malachi Jones was the top scorer with 26 not out against his first club, while Derrick Brangman led Southampton Rangers in the bowling department with figures of 9-2-16-4 and Eve bowled 1-0-3-2.

St. David’s Cricket Club Win by 75 Runs: St. David’s 211/2 Cleveland County 136/6

At the Wellington Oval, Cleveland County won the toss and sent St. David’s to bat in a match that was reduced to 30 overs. St. David’s Cricket Club scored 211/2 in their allotter overs, Fiqre Crockwell was the top scorer with 96, while OJ Pitcher added 53 not out. Clay Darrell was the pick of the Cleveland County bowlers with figures of 6-0-26-1.

In reply Cleveland County could only manage 136/6 in their allotted 30 overs, Jason Anderson was their top scorer with 35, while Adrian Burrows added 22, Pitcher was the pick of the St. David’s Cricket Club bowlers returning figures of 6-3-14-4.

Willow Cuts Win by 31 Runs: Willow Cuts 302 Somerset 271

At the Somerset Cricket Club, Willow Cuts batted first and scored 302, with Deunte Darrell scoring 131. In reply the Somerset Cricket Club were bowled out for 271, captain Jekon Edness was the top scorer with 72.

First Division

St. George’s Cricket Club Win by 4 Wickets: Devonshire Recreation Club 151 St. George’s 152/6

At the Devonshire Rec. St. George’s Cricket Club won the toss and sent the host to bat. Devonshire Recreation Club were bowled out for 151 in 34.4 overs, Lamar Caines was the top scorer with 37, while Chris Douglas added 30. Player-coach Ryan Steede returned bowling figures of 5-2-26-2.

In reply the St. George’s Cricket Club scored 152/6 in 27.5 overs, Christian Burgess was the top scorer with 55, while Misheal Paynter added 18 and Macai Simmons chipped in with 16. Lamont Brangman returned bowling figures of 4.5-0-41-3 for the Devonshire Recreation Club.

Western Stars Win by 4 Wickets: Somerset Bridge 146/5 Western Stars 147/6

At the St. John’s Field the match was reduced to 40 overs, Somerset Bridge batted first and scored 146/5 in their allotted overs, Shawn Riley was the top scorer with 48, while Clarence Trott added 40, Naquan Smith led the Western Stars in the bowling department with figures of 7-2-17-1.

In reply Western Stars scored 147/6 in 33.5 overs, Justin Robinson was the top scorer with 46 not out, while Temiko Eve added 32, Donnie Charles was the pick of the Somerset Bridge bowlers with figures of 8-0-29-2.
