Stewardship Notice Over Corporation To Be Lifted
Pursuant to the assent of the Municipalities Amendment [No. 2] Act 2015 by Governor George Fergusson, Minister of Home Affairs Michael Fahy announced that he will formally lift the Stewardship Notice over the Corporation of Hamilton effective 5:00pm on Thursday [Aug 20].
Minister Fahy stated, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the new Mayor of Hamilton the Rt. Wor. Charles Gosling, his new Council and the Secretary for the Corporation, Mr. Ed Benevides, for bringing about a swift and refreshing approach to operating the Corporation of Hamilton and I look forward to our ongoing dialogue as you take the Corporation forward to the betterment of Bermuda”.
puzzled why ed benevides still on the payroll given his involvement in the previous debacles , u-turns of hairbrained schemes etc.
Not puzzling at all. Given that everything Mr. Benevides did was at the direction of the former council, all the hare brained ideas belonged to them – why should he be punished for their incompetence? He has been there long before that council and up until “Team Hamilton” were elected, there were no scandals, no stewardship and much less litigation, so obviously he isn’t the problem.
Just following orders?
Mr. Benevides is still on the payroll because he is an excellent employee, that is, in my opinion. I’ve had to deal with him on many occasions and I’ve always found him to be professional, fair, courteous and accommodating. Thankfully he was not “involved” with the previous debacles of the previous council and their harebrained schemes.
oops s/b “harebrained”
