Why are the police reactive as oppose to proactive? Far too much of this type of behavior has been going on; more-so lately than over the years…Set traps and lure the crooks out to prevent them from harming the innocent general public :-(

I agree Mr. Bernews, I was looking forward to your response to the illegal sex act at cupmatch.. Should they be strung up on the flag pole and beaten? Maybe shamed on the steps of city hall… I’m all ears.

  2. theothersidebda says:

Something don’t sound right with this scenario…were the men armed? If not, then I wonder whether this was a ‘random’ incident or related to something else. Broad daylight, Vasco de Gama all the way to HSBC Reid St and not a single opportunity to draw attention to yourself? Barring being armed, it seems there may be more to this story.

    • JAWS says:

Agreed, something smells fish or like that silly entertainer who came here claimed “like a dead whale.”

Do people know how many CCTV cameras are position between all these points? If that was the case their photos would be plaster all over the media by now. Keep CALM and Carry on BDA.

  3. Kangoocar says:

Why am I NOT surprised this type of nonsense is escalating?? As long as we have magistrates handing out slap on the wrist sentences, the scum bags will only get more brazen!!! Just remember last week we have someone throw boiling water on another while they slept and they get basically a NON sentence??? We reap what we sow, and I am personally sick of it!!!!

Oh so quick to do the forensics and judge.

  5. BloopBleepBloop says:

I thought ATMs had distress codes?

    • Zevon says:

Really? I’ve been using ATMs for about 35 years and had no idea of any ‘distress code’.
Some people are real tough guys, easily able to fend off two nasty robber thugs, by the sounds of it.
      Talk about blaming the victim.

    • Toodle-oo says:

I don’t know about ‘distress codes’ but with a little presence of mind the victim could have , under the guise of nervousness , entered the wrong PIN 3 times and then said ‘ oopsie ‘
      Thugs foiled

    • PBanks says:

There’s no such thing. It’s the same kind of hoax that gets people to fall for scams and spam. This myth needs to be killed off quickly.

    • Terry says:

      Distress codes?

      So press it.
The bastards still want the money and if they don’t get it………………………………………………

  6. JAWS says:

    “fishy”

  7. rene says:

The Police cannot predict where and if a crime may happen. This could have been spurred by drg addition or pure evil planning and intent.

Also theothersidebda mentions why did the individual not draw attention to himself, probably because he or she was in shock or fear; but, this is all speculation. Even if the men where are , two against one, who knows. What would you do?

  8. CJ says:

Saturday afternoon, the roads must have been busy. You tellin me he couldn’t bring attention to anyone? There are details we are not being told. Did he know his attackers? Is he not saying cause they’ll hurt him? The whole thing stinks like a dead whale.

  9. Wait What? says:

from my understanding if you type in your pin backwards that is supposed to alert the bank and trigger something for the police as well.

    • Toodle-oo says:

Sounds like folklore to me .
What if , and you know there are plenty , someone has a PIN that is the same number repeated 4 times ? Backwards same as forwards .. thus folklore .

    • PBanks says:

      Urban legend.

    • Zevon says:

      Ha ha. Good one.

    • Dennis Williams says:

In the States maybe. But not Bermuda

    easy pickings

  12. Terry says:

    Don’t ATM’s have cameras?

  13. Common Sense says:

Amazing how many crime fighting axperts we have! We get a brief description of what happened and already we have the know-it-alls calling it a hoax, telling the victim what he should have done, revealing how there are CCTV cameras on the streets and at HSBC as if the Police didn’t know.

The truth is we really have no idea what was said or threatened, what was the age and size of the victim, or the culprits etc. How about letting the Police investigate this crime, or alleged crime if some want to call it that, and see where it leads them. Of course they will check the CCTV cameras and collect as much evidence as possible and then decide what action to take. It’s called Police work.

  14. real talk says:

I know a good spot to rob people in town. however if you choose wrong and rob the wrong person’s relative you could easily end up like those twins.
