E-Business Workshops To Help Online Start-Ups
Inspire eBusiness workshops — which are designed to educate entrepreneurs about starting an online business — will get underway on September 23rd, with workshop topics to include starting an ebusiness, marketing, social media, building websites and more.
A spokesperson said, “Inspire eBusiness was launched in 2014 with the objective of supporting and encouraging the development of local e-commerce business in Bermuda.
“It aims to educate existing and potential entrepreneurs about the process of starting an online business and setting up e-commerce on their websites.
“Everything about starting an ebusiness, from registering for Payroll Tax purposes to cyber security will be covered at free government workshops that will be open to e-entrepreneurs starting next week.
“The Inspire eBusiness workshops are sponsored by the Department of E-Commerce and coordinated by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation. The first of the series, which is titled “Starting an eBusiness,” is scheduled for September 23rd at 12:30 and will take place at the Chamber of Commerce.
“Other upcoming workshop topics are: starting an ebusiness, local requirements and regulations for e-business, Customs and BEDC Letter of Credit, marketing and social media, finding alternative financing sources for your business, and building websites and an online presence.
The Minister of Home Affairs Michael Fahy said: “I encourage both existing e-entrepreneurs and those wishing to start an online business to attend these free workshops. I applaud the BEDC and Department of E-Commerce for making these workshops possible.
“In today’s world many companies are turning to an online format from which to conduct their business. As the world changes, we must change with it and embrace the new technological advances, making way and creating opportunities for this new breed of entrepreneur.”
The Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Grant Gibbons said, “These educational seminars have proven to be invaluable to those wishing to create and boost their online presence for greater business reach.
“Those attending learn about the local rules and regulations of starting an online business. They also learn about cybersecurity, support available for online businesses, as well as methods to boost their online businesses and add e-commerce modules to their sites.
“Subject-matter experts as well as e-entrepreneurs will be available to answer questions and provide additional insight,” Dr Gibbons said.
Existing e-entrepreneurs and those starting online businesses can take advantage of this and other free lunch-time and evening workshops by simply calling 292-5570 or emailing orochester@bedc.bm.
