  1. NO MORE WAR says:

Wow he driver is surely lucky to be alive. Koodoos to the police for entering the water to ensure no other persons were inside the vehicle.

    • Sheila says:

Wow glad he is ok did he want to go fishing or thought he was in a submarine

    • Self says:

Why do people use words they don’t know how to spell? I guess you could give KUDOS to the police, but as public safety officers that would be part of their job.

      • They Call me Payback says:

Really though?!?! Out of the Whole post you Pick on the person for spelling Kudos wrong, are you at the fact they have more likes then you lol

    • JohnBoy says:

Where he went over is the straightest part of de road. WTH?????

  2. Mildred says:

Harrington Sound is very dangerous and someone could have drowned. Perhaps it is time for Government to drain it. Law abiding road users who travel at the speed limit could be in danger.

    • Tina says:

They dont need to drain Harrington Sound, people just need to slow down

    • Zevon says:

We should probably build a 4 foot reinforced wall along the side of every road. That way, vehicles will stay where they’re meant to be. It’s ridiculous that no one has thought of this before, actually.

      • HarryButtle says:

They should line all the roads in Bermuda with foam rubber bumpers and put selectrix style slot car grooves in all the roads. That plus limiting all cars to 50kph from the factory.

Or we could just be a bit more careful while driving and crack down on reckless, drunk and drivers who use excessive speed.

    • Whatttt says:

      Drain the ocean?

      • Longtail says:

        It’s SATIRE, Whatttt!!
Obviously went way over the heads of many………..

    • Clarke L Jones says:

How the hell do you expect the Sound to be drained when the water flows from Flatts Inlet ,into the Sound and out through to Castle Harbour through a cave at the eastern end of the Sound

      • jt says:

        Sarcasm.

      • Wally Sittur says:

Wow. Here let me help you grasp what you just missed.

Sarcasm is “a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe ortaunt.”[1][2] Sarcasm may employambivalence,[3] although sarcasm is not necessarily ironic.[4] ”The distinctive quality of sarcasm is present in the spoken word and manifested chiefly by vocal inflections”.[5] The sarcastic content of a statement will be dependent upon the context in which it appears.[6]

      • filobedo21 says:

It’s sarcasm Clarke L Jones LOL

      • justice for all says:

Lmaoooooooo! I was wondering the same thing!

      • Goose says:

        Concrete it over then?

Parking and housing are at a premium, could be turned into a very nice housing development with an attached park and ride to town for those that live in the east end!

    • Really says:

      You’re an idiot

      • Self says:

You all sure don’t recognize satire when you see it, do you?? It would seem Mildred isn’t the idiot here!!

      • Mildred says:

Clarke is not an idiot and he makes a good point. If they blocked flats bridge and the cave he was talking about they could drain it and then accidents like this would never happen. A simple way to fix it but I done expect government will do anything about it.

        • Regina says:

          Oh. My. God.

          • Lightbulb!!!!! says:

What happens if after they block and drain it, it gets a hole in it? Also they will have to keep it covered from the rain.

            • Mildred says:

Well I had this stuff my Deddy used on our pool. Don’t need no degree to see that would work. Also when it rains a sump pomp would work dickty. And think of all the extra land it would create. Even us grassroots Bermudians could afford. And all goverment can do is talk about payin off some debt.

              • Lightbulb!!!!! says:

I guess it will be like filling in de fountains like they did at City Hole.

    • Um Um Like says:

I appreciate your sarcasm. Ignore the others.

    • whatwillittake says:

      Satirical comment people!

    • Toodle-oo says:

To fully prove that I understand what you’re saying Mildred I’ll remind you that DLS time is ending soon and thus your curtains will be fine . lol

      • Mildred says:

And don’t get me going about these big cruise ships and they are raising our sea levels.

    • Family Man says:

Whoooosh …. the sound that sarcasm makes when flying over the heads of all the mouth-breathers.

    • KitKat says:

Pretty sure this is satire, guys.

    • happy girl says:

Shutttttup you sound like such a uneducated idiot. Drain the ocean? Harrington Sound at that !?!? LOL ok go along and take your special pills now MILDRED

      • Build a Better Bermuda says:

I would really be careful with your comments… especially since you missed such obvious sarcasm.

        • filobedo21 says:

Careful now, do you think they even know what sarcasm is? lol

        • happy girl says:

“I would be really careful with your comments” LOL OR WHAT!??!??? Exactly.. you sound just as dumb as “sarcastic” Mildred. Get a life please and thank you. Sorry but didn’t catch any sarcasm…

    • Huh says:

      Now that is funny!!!!!!!

    • Ameboa says:

Draining the sound would not even be the best of ideas. If that ever happened that vehicle would be out of reach perhaps

  3. Name and Bert Date says:

This is happening like every week now, cars flipping over that is… what’s really going on? Are people speeding and or drinking more than they used to? On corners? Are cars not being serviced or inspected properly? Are the police less visible after hours on weekends than they used to be? Perhaps a combination of these things…

    • St. D says:

      Unfortunately this is the norm.

    • KitKat says:

I think a lot of it has to do with people driving crazily down that road. I was traveling down the same way at around the same time of night on a Saturday recently, and I was appalled at how the vehicle I was in- driving within the legal limit- was taken over by multiple times by multiple mopeds AND cars going at enormous speed. People are just not taking care, and it’s endangering their own lives AND the lives of those around them. Wise up, folks.

    • J says:

It is people driving like idiots!

Harbor Sound Road is not dangerous at all! It is one of the better roads we have in Bermuda due to the wideness of it. I take Harrington Sound Road every day to get to work, early mornings, afternoons and late nights. I can’t count the number of times I have nearly been hit by cars either over taking on corners or by just people not staying in their lane!! When I tell them off they look at me like its MY FAULT. Slow down, stay on your side of the road & PUT THE DAMN CELL PHONES DOWN.

  4. The Truth and Nothing but the Truth says:

OR maybe, just maybe this person should have not been driving !! Wake up people!

  5. Buck-a-Roo says:

Great idea Mildred. Just think of all the open space it’ll create when drained!
Start with sealing Flatts Inlet. Then – fill all the cave at the eastern end with expanding foam. Once that’s done, just start bailing :-)

Jokes aside, driver is lucky to have escaped with his life what ever the cause of the accident may be.

  6. SMH2 says:

Mildred was being sarcastic, I think? Hope the fuel and oil from the vehicle are not polluting the water.

  7. respect says:

These comments are hilarious. Hope he has a speedy recovery. But for the vehicle it’s unfortunate.

  8. C says:

Maybe just maybe he didn’t realize tat monster of a speed bump was there.

  9. Ellen says:

Glad the driver was okay. Do not know if the driver was speeding or not but Harrington Sound Road can be dangerous driving thru and all drivers need to take their time navigating this area. It is not unusual for drivers to drive over the white/yellow lines…

    • Shush says:

With a speed limit of 35kph, plus the onus on the driver to drive slower than that of conditions dictate, then there is no such thing as a dangerous road in Bermuda.

What there is is the consistent belief that it is always someone else’s fault.

I do like the “drain the ocean” suggestion though. At least then the Pee Ell Pee won’t have to watch the America’s Cup.

  10. Mark says:

Way to go Mildred. Can’t believe there are actually people dumb enough to bite on that. When we drain the Sound I’ll sell Flatts Bridge to “Not So” Happy Girl.

  11. Autobahn says:

I am very happy the driver is ok. Obviously heart broken aswell. Someone need to investigate the amount silt and debris that comes into the road from Beirmans quarry. That exact area is a hot spot for accidents and that is probably the reason. And the extra traffic that is always parked on that narrow stretch on road makes for a dangerous scenario.

    • Debra says:

Perfectpearl people need so slow down. Where do you you think you are going fast on 21 square miles!

    • JohnBoy says:

Hot spot for accidents? Since when??
I go through there almost every day. I haven’t seen one there yet!

    • Onion Seed says:

Harrington Sound Road, with the exception of the speed mountain, is one of the easiest to navigate 24/7 if paying attention and travelling at an appropriate speed for the conditions.
In addition to being grateful for making it away from the vehicle alive, I pray he is darn grateful for the sacrifices made by ALL to cover increased health and vehicle insurance due to his accident.

    • Legalgal says:

Then SLOW down. 35 is the MAX. not a God given constitutional right.

  12. filobedo21 says:

@Autobahn, your quote is unbelieveable. Thousands of people travel this road, daily even at one am in the morning, and do just fine. Stop finding reasons for this accident. There is definitely a few and only the driver could tell us if he wants to be honest. But then again he has learned some valuable lessons, I would think.

  13. Perfectpearl says:

I’m just glad the driver is ok!

    • Perfectpearl says:

Where are you going fast on 21 square mile! Get there safe not fast!!!

  14. BlackJesus says:

    Turnt

  15. Really? says:

Praying for a full and fast recovery.

  16. Dangel says:

Sarcasm is the lowest possible wit!!!

    • Vulcan Trash Cleaner says:

actually you are wrong,it was the bard,Shakespeare that said,Sarcasm is the highest form of wit!

Now many have heard of Shakespeare, but none have ever heard of you.

  17. Brandon says:

My thing is that …all of you were given the opportunity to comment on this accident and then it ends up with all of you disrespecting each other .. focus on what happened and stop all the name calling back and forth this person COULD”VE lost their life thank God he survived .. there could’ve been many circumstances as to what have happened in this incident they’re alive and that’s what REALLY matters and STOP focusing on other peoples comments …

  18. Bdaops says:

Just to let everyone know this car went over about a Quarter mile east of Lollys Well road

  19. it can happen…but how indeed…20 mph…upside down innee watah…how you do dat?…See dat???!….Dooooooonnnn”’ttt dooooo daaattt.

  20. Non-mariner says:

I never liked Harrington Sound anyway…lets drain it! We can use my 6hp hurricane generator an two sump pumps from my 50gal fish tank. Best of all, we can BBQ in the Aquarium parking lot…somebody needs to bring the potato salad, I ain’t peeling all them spuds.
