NSC Signage Donated To Eight Local Charities

Bermuda’s National Sports Centre is a bit more colourful this week following the initial installations in a signage programme that is the cornerstone of new community and corporate sponsorship of the facility.

National Sports Centre and Bermuda Yellow Pages — who are working with NSC on the presentation and sale of branding opportunities at the NSC — donated the production, media and installation of signage for eight local charities: Bermuda Diabetes, Bermuda Heart Foundation, Bermuda Olympic Association, Centre Against Abuse, Coalition For The Protection Of Children, Family Centre, SCARS and YouthNet.

Chairman of the National Sports Centre Sean Tucker said, “The Board of Trustees is pleased that Bermuda Yellow Pages and the National Sports Centre could kick off the signage programme with this donation of promotional signage for some of the key charities on the island. NSC is proud to support these great organizations and help them communicate to our 140,000-plus annual NSC visitors.”

Simone Barton of Bermuda Heart Foundation and Debi Ray Rivers of SCARS were in attendance at the presentation of the new signage and expressed their gratitude for inclusion in the signage launch.

Ms Barton referred to the timing as kismet, saying: “As a charity we’re struggling. We do great work but how do you get the word out when times are tight? Advertising is the lifeblood of any endeavor but we just don’t have the money. So we are truly grateful to have Bermuda Heart Foundation represented at the National Sports Centre.”

On behalf of SCARS, Ms Ray Rivers stated, “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Bermuda Yellow Pages, YABSTA and The National Sports Centre. This banner provides amazing exposure and awareness for SCARS. It also lets families and the community know that there is an organization out there advocating for the protection of children from sexual abuse.”

Craig Tyrrell, Operations Manager at NSC, said: “ The National Sports Centre plays host to many of the island’s largest sporting and entertainment events including football matches, Carifta Games, Island Games, World Rugby Classic and swimming events.

“In addition, it serves a wide spectrum of the community on a daily basis as a training facility and fitness centre. Visitors are also finding it a useful facility with America’s Cup athletes training at the Aquatics Centre.”
