The Master of Ceremony for the evening was Andre Rochester while opening prayer and blessing was given by Anthony Seaman followed by a moment of silence for those members who passed during the past year.

Corporation of Hamilton committee member Daniel Hayward introduced the guest speaker, President of the Bermuda Public Services Union [BPSU], Jason Hayward. The evening was brought to an end with closing remarks and thanks from Bermuda Industrial Union President Chris Furbert.

More Labour Day activities will follow at 8.00am on Monday, September 7, with the Swan’s Running Club Annual Children’s Race and Walk.

Prior to the annual Labour Day March, which will leave from BIU Headquarters at 11.30am, Bermuda’s trade union leaders will present Labour Day greetings to the assembled audience, while the Community Services Federation will give free health screenings during the morning.

I am so glad I didnt go!

    • Mixitup says:

What too many black people for your liking?

      • Vulcan Trash Cleaner says:

        Mixitup:-

        Bad comment from you….!

        • robert says:

          Its an honest assessment

        • Truth Teller says:

No..Mixitup’s comment was the right comment. After living in Bermuda for any length of time is becomes clear that white Bermudians will only participate in organizations where they are in charge or where they form a majority like in the uPB/Oba notwithstanding the black face they put on in the House of Assembly to fool the public.

Signed: Black and not in denial !

          • Zevon says:

I thought white people weren’t welcome.

          • Zevon says:

See Onion juice’s comment below. White people weren’t wanted there.

          • Hmmm says:

Divide the coutry by race to win an election……the motto united we stand divided we fall does not mean anything to you.

You are your Own worst enemy!

      • Sideshow Bob says:

        mixitup, crass and thoughtless comment.

As long as people like you were there, black or white, I would stay at home.

      • RBKing says:

Tickets were $100 each. By the time you pay for two tickets, babysitters, taxis each way, that’s a $400 night out. That’s not counting the new clothes and bling that people got to show off. Only rich people can afford that.

    • marge says:

people think about it…. the unions are making a fortune with the dues that you are paying. look at what the leaders of the unions are getting paid……and where they are living …

    • Onion juice says:

I’m glad too, more food for me, I guess you didn’t get the memo, YOU WERE’NT INVITED.

      • Vulcan Trash Cleaner says:

Oh here’s another person with his guess work!

        WRONG bye!

    • Hurricane says:

They are glad you didn’t come too

  3. marge says:

Unions all over the world are in deep @#$% who the hell can pay unions dues ? and think about it the dues union members pay could put food on the table and gas in their cars…

    • Onion juice says:

      Oh shut up.
That PROPAGANDA Bull S!@# dont work no more, people know that without the Union they would be like the cheap labor foreign workers that are here and for $12 a week for dues its worth the the benefits that we ALL enjoy even if you’re not a member.
The reason they could put food on their tables and gas in their cars is because of the Unions.
Save that S!@# for Oprah …. FOOL

      • Hmmm says:

Ah, a union employee. Finally the truth is out.

      • Jus Wonderin' says:

oh so i can save twelve and not be a member and get the perks _____ easy choice on that one lmao you sound like a sheep onion

  4. Terry says:

A picture speaks a thousand words.

    How much did that cost.

Look at all those jewels, dresses , suits .

Where are the people that support these rich and well paid BIU members and “Civil Servants”.

    Alah……………………..

    • Onion juice says:

They all couldn’t be there STUPID, the tickets were sold out.
But trying to incite division is played out and is an old Colonial trick.
      Sorry Charlie.

      • Jus Wonderin' says:

guess the plp slash ubp is Colonial by ya definition then lmao

    • Truth Teller says:

Here we go again from Terry: Trump style racist code speech!

  5. CBA says:

    Awesome!! :)

  6. Terry says:

    Saturday Night live.

    Alah akba.

  7. Sideshow Bob says:

    Looks a pretty glitzy affair.

Ideal to talk about food banks, welfare and unemployment.

    True colours BIU, true colours.

    • Onion juice says:

So ALL Black people are supposed to be poor.

      • aceboy says:

Nobody said that…you did. Fact is, most workers cannot afford to wine and dine like this. The leaders of the workers are splurging, using THEIR money to do just that. Hayward does alot of talking about the suffering of the “people”…doesn’t look like much suffering is going on here.

  8. Onion juice says:

Thank you B.I.U for keeping the legacy of our Forefathers who fought for this holiday.
