Police Confirm Death Of 56-Year-Old Male Visitor
The police have confirmed the death of a 56 year old male visitor, saying that he was rushed to hospital after becoming unresponsive while snorkeling in the waters around Hawkins Island.
A police spokesperson said, “First responders attended to a report of an incident that took place in the waters around Hawkins Island at around 3:46pm today.
“Details surrounding this incident are sketchy at this point but it appears that a 56 year old man [visitor on board the Norwegian Breakaway] was snorkeling with a group, when he was noticed in an unresponsive state in the water.
“He was lifted to a private vessel where they met up with a Police Marine boat and taken to an awaiting ambulance to KEMH, however, at 4:44pm the man was pronounced dead. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.”
