“Practical Boating Seminar” On November 1st
The Bermuda Water Safety Council [WSC] will host its 3rd Annual Practical Boating Seminar on Sunday November 1, at 5:30pm.
“The seminars have been designed to give boaters an opportunity to learn practical aspects of handling and navigating boats around Bermuda in a safe and responsible manner,” a spokesperson said.
“The key focus of the seminar will be how to understand and use the VHF marine radio and emergency pyrotechnics [distress flares].
“This year the entire evening’s activities will take place aboard one of the catamaran ferries which will depart from the Hamilton Ferry Terminal at 5:30pm. It is therefore important that all participants arrive prior to the 5:30PM departure.
“The number of participants will be limited to 60 people.
“Parents may bring children 12 and older. All participants must register via email at bermudawatersafety@gmail.com. There will be a nominal fee of $10 [in cash] and entry is on a first come/first serve basis.”
WSC Chairman, Ralph Richardson stated, “With nearly 4,000 boats on the water, there are many owners who have little or no experience. Seminars like this offer an opportunity for boaters to learn how to safely operate their vessels.
“Please register you and/or your family at email address: bermudawatersafety@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you on the water”.

About time that something was offered to teach people about safe boating. I’m sick and tired of all the lunatics out on the water that get in the way of my yacht ans my fellow yachtsmen of BBIRYC. This sort of thing should be mandatory because whenever I’m spending a day yachting the amateurs come out and create amateur hour. The wake from their boats rocks my yacht making it difficult for my wife and me to enjoy our Dom Pérignon and Almas Iranian Caviar.
