Two charities, Mirrors Team Street Safe and the Coalition for the Protection of Children, each received a $3,500 donation.

The Team Street Safe programme involves community workers proactively and reactively interacting directly with gang members to prevent crimes from taking place as well as helping those engaged in the gang lifestyle find a way out.

This team is making a very real and positive difference in the lives of many of our youth caught up in destructive and antisocial behaviour.

The Coalition for the Protection of Children advocates for child rights, protection and social justice. Their Breakfast for every Child programme provides 30,000 meals for public school children each year. The Coalition also engages families to provide conflict resolution.

OBA Chair, Senator Lynne Woolridge said: “Donating to these two charities supports the OBA mandate to assist Bermuda’s youth. Our members were keen to assist the Coalition and Mirrors Team Street Safe as they are making a tangible and positive contribution to our community, focussing on at risk youth.

“We are grateful to participants and our sponsors who contributed funds, goods and services that ensured an enjoyable day whilst benefitting those most in need in Bermuda.”

the PLP does many things to benefit all segments of society…not just electioneering to benefit the youth. everything that is done needs not be in the media.

      • Kangoocar says:

@watching, I hope you didn’t write that nonsense with a straight face??? You plp grandstand at every chance they can get and it ALWAYS only intends to benifit ONE segment of society!! I will await your hopeless attempt to prove me wrong??? Notice also, I said ” intends to benifit ” I said that because we never hear of the results they produce???

    • Unbelievable says:

Yeah…instead they have a fish fry.

      • Cup Of Tea Anyone? says:

    Matthew 6

    New King James Version (NKJV)

    Do Good to Please God
6 “Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly

So much bickering now a days people don’t even comment on the main topic anymore. Really sad actually.

    • Cup Of Tea Anyone? says:

so he says as he makes a comment that has nothing to do with the topic.

  6. Pastor Syl says:

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, for real. If the government doesn’t let the people know what they are doing, people complain, or say the government isn’t doing anything. When they DO let people know, the complaint is that they are just grandstanding for the camera.
OBA, please ignore the constant negativity. Continue to keep the public informed of what you are doing. Thank you for your efforts. I may not agree with everything you do, but I can appreciate that you are trying.
