Manager Chris Powell Leaves Huddersfield Town
[Updated] Chris Powell has left his role as Manager of Huddersfield Town — which Bermuda’s Nahki Wells plays for — with immediate effect after his contract was ended by the Club. Assistant Manager Alex Dyer will also depart the Club at the same time.
The BBC report, “Huddersfield Town have sacked boss Chris Powell after just three league wins this season. The 46-year-old former Charlton boss was appointed Terriers manager in September 2014 and guided them to safety in the Championship last season. However, Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Reading saw them drop to 18th in the table.”
Huddersfield Town Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens said, “We have decided to make this change after very careful deliberation. It is made with the long term interests of the Club in mind. It signals a change of direction by the Club and a new approach.
“Chris worked to represent Huddersfield Town to the best of his ability; to develop us, improve us and take us forward. He now leaves us well placed for the future challenges ahead,” added Mr Clibbens.
“With his skills and qualities as a person, it won’t be too long before Chris finds a new challenge and we wish him success when that comes.
“We would like to thank Chris and Alex and give them our best wishes for the future.”
Update 4.40pm: According to both ESPN and the Telegraph, David Wagner is likely to take the manager’s job.
Hopefully the new Lad in charge to coach the team will put his faith in Wells and have him start more.
