Delray Rawlins & Marcus Scotland Selected
The Bermuda Cricket Board is offering its congratulations to players Delray Rawlins and Marcus Scotland following their recent squad selections.
Delray Rawlins has been re-selected to the Sussex Academy, while 12-year-old Marcus Scotland has been selected to the Surrey County Cricket Club U13 squad for 2016.
Regarding Rawlins, the BCB said, “The BCB congratulate Delray on his selection to the Sussex Academy for the second consecutive year. Delray has made great progress in his short time at Bedes under the watchful eyes of ECB Level 4 coach Alan Wells.
“The BCB supported Delray’s inclusion in the ICC Americas combine in September this year in addition to the ICC High Performance camp in Barbados last December.
“Delray’s continued performance improvements led to his selection to the ECB U17 Super 4’s in August where he represented the London and East region – one of only 4 Sussex cricketers selected.”
Regarding Scotland, the BCB said, “Marcus Scotland [age 12], grandson of St George’s Cup Match legend the late Rupert Scotland, has been selected to the Surrey CCC U13 county squad for 2016.
“Marcus was recently involved in three weeks of intensive trials and is now regarded as one of the best 24 cricketers in his age group from the entire Surrey county. It is believed that no Bermudian – at his age – has ever been a colt for one of the 18 major cricket counties in England and Wales.
“Last season, Marcus played cricket for three teams – Spencer CC, London Schools and Surrey District (Inner London) primarily as an opening batsman. In August, he top-scored on Bermuda’s U14 Development Tour of the UK recording three 50s and averaging 64.33 over five matches.”
