NMAC Welcomes New Cardiovascular Expert
Dr. Ofer Sagiv [pictured] has joined the staff of Northshore Medical and Aesthetic Center [NMAC] as their first cardiovascular expert.
Dr. Sagiv will concentrate on the screening and prevention of cardiac and peripheral vascular disease as well as the diagnosis, management and surveillance of abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, lower extremity arterial disease and venous disease.
A spokesperson said, “Dr. Sagiv is a cardiovascular imaging specialist and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, CT Angiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography. He is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation and trained in interpretation of Cardiac MRI.
“Dr. Sagiv will see patients who are suffering from leg pain or burning/aching in your calves especially when you walk; have any wound in your foot/leg that won’t heal or have significant discoloration of the skin on your foot/leg; have noticed poor nail or hair growth on your toes or legs; have a history of diabetes OR smoking and are older than 50.
“Dr. Sagiv will also see people who are older than 65 and have a history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or history of smoking; have a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm; have had a heart attack or stroke; had a stent placed in one of your coronary arteries or you have had coronary artery bypass surgery; have established peripheral arterial disease, including those who have had a stent or angioplasty in your leg arteries, have had bypass graft surgery in your legs and previously or currently being treated by a vascular surgeon overseas, have a known aortic aneurysm or one that has been repaired, or have had a stent placed in your neck artery [carotid artery] or have had surgery on your carotid artery [also known as carotid endarterectomy procedure].
“Dr. Sagiv will also be available to see patients who have other cardiac symptoms or conditions such as edema or swelling of your legs, especially if worse towards the end of the day; shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations or racing heart, loss of consciences episodes [otherwise known as syncope], history or suspected irregular heart rhythm such as atrial fibrillation, history of, or recently discovered heart murmur, known repaired or unrepaired heart valve disease such as aortic stenosis or mitral regurgitation, or a history of heart failure.
