Photos & Video: “Sprinkles” Ice Cream Opens
Yesterday [Nov 27] LaKeila Greaves held the grand opening of her “Sprinkles” ice cream shop in the Washington Mall in Hamilton, with Senator Vic Ball and BEDC Chairman Nick Kempe in attendance.
Ms. Greaves works as a teacher at West End Primary School, and making ice cream and various baked goods is her outlet for creativity. Since she opened “Sprinkles”, she has employed two individuals as well as a CedarBridge Academy student on a part-time basis.

Part of the driving force for Ms Greaves in the creation of her ice cream parlour is to be a role model for all students in Bermuda who express a desire to cultivate their culinary skills, and she intends to start a student apprentice program in January 2016.
Speaking at the formal opening, Senator Ball said, “I am honoured to be in attendance today for the grand opening of Sprinkles.
“Ms Greaves has had the dream of opening an ice cream parlour ever since she helped her parents run their business Double Dip, previously located on Front Street. Ms Greaves was raised in an entrepreneurial environment, something which was of great benefit in turning her vision for Sprinkles into a reality.
Senator Ball added that, “BEDC’s products and services have assisted Ms Greaves in bringing Sprinkles to reality with the use of the BEDC Micro Loan – a 100% secured financial product offering up to $7,500 in bank financing.
“BEDC remains vigilant in its mandate to support business owners through training and market knowledge, as well with educational seminars and networking opportunities.”
