Photos: Saltus Clean Up At John Smith’s Bay
On Saturday [Nov 7] Saltus Grammar School students, parents, staff, and alumni held a clean-up at John Smiths Bay, collecting some 25 bags of regular trash, 12 bags of recyclables and larger items.
For the past few years, as part of Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB] Adopt-A-Spot initiative, a team from Saltus have turned out for clean-ups at John Smith’s Bay in the fall and spring, and at the KBB Awards Ceremony held earlier this year, Saltus was awarded the 2014 Best Adopt-A-Spot Team certificate.

Saltus Year 4 Teacher and Year 4 Coordinator.Erika Powell, organizes these clean-ups, and Ms. Powell said that on Saturday [Nov 7] Saltus students, parents, staff, Head of School Mr. Ted Staunton and alumni turned out for the fall clean-up, where they collected 25 bags of regular trash, 12 bags of recyclables, plus larger items including a couple of chairs and a barbecue.

That is an impressive effort by Saltus and KBB – congratulations to all involved with this effort to be a part of a positive solution to our waste disposal and littering habits. Cleaning that beach assures our visitors and residents that you care enough about Bermuda to make a difference.
Excellent! Saltus, leading the way. Which areas will some of the other schools be cleaning up? Seem to recall Warwick Academy doing community work not too long ago. Any others?
