The “Lighting of the Town” event was held at King’s Square in St. George’s on Saturday evening [Nov 28], featuring entertainment from the Salvation Army Divisional Band, Laverne Daniels, Their Majesties Choristers from St. Peter’s Church; as well as a fashion show featuring styles available at some St. George’s retailers.

Eggnog was provided courtesy of Dunkley’s Dairy, and Governor Fergusson was given the responsibility of energizing the town’s Christmas lights with a switch located outside the Town Hall, as the east end started getting into the holiday season.

Those in attendance also heard that the Governor has given the final sign off required for the marina for St George’s, with Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy making the announcement during the event.

Following the announcement, St George’s Mayor Quinell Francis said, “This is great news for all of us, for St George, and we’re just looking forward to seeing our marina to come to fruition.”
