PLP Constituency 15 Host Holiday Hamper Drive
The Progressive Labour Party said they are pleased to highlight the successful hamper drive hosted by their Constituency 15 Pembroke East branch, saying that with community support they were able to surpass their goal of helping people.
Area MP Walter Roban said, “Our goal was to assist approximately 25 needy families, seniors and disabled persons in our community.”
“With community support, we were able to surpass our goal 4 times over, and provide the extra goods collected to others in the community, including the First Church of God, Pembroke and First Baptist Church, Devonshire,” Mr Roban said.
“It was rewarding to hear from those who benefitted, showed love, and expressed gratitude for what was provided to them during a time when many struggle to afford the essentials.
“Our Family Affair that followed the hamper collection was also a huge success, and a hit with the children. Our donors who contributed decorations, food and party favours for the children made it a memorable day for all those who attended.
“We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event a success, from Four Star Pizza and Pizza House, to local churches Heard AME Chapel, North Shore Gospel Chapel, and the Grace Methodist Church, as well as the other volunteers who donated to, organized and packed the hampers, and Sherri Simmons, for allowing us to promote this important community effort.
“We wish everyone a great and prosperous New Year and thank the community for their continued support,” concluded Mr Roban.
