Suzuki Strings Group To Perform Across Island

January 12, 2016

The Bermuda School of Music’s Suzuki Strings Tour Group will hold its fourth Bermuda Tour on Friday, January 15, in preparation for the group’s February performance at Disney World.

In 2015, the Suzuki Tour Group was accepted to participate in a series of workshops at Disney World in Orlando, Florida from February 7 to 12; in addition to workshops with Disney Music professionals, they will perform on Disney’s Waterside Stage as a feature of their music programme.

The group’s Bermuda Tour performances will include classical pieces such as Fur Elise, fiddle tunes such as the Pig Ankle Rag, and ‘Bermuda is Another World.’

The Tour will perform throughout the day on January 15, including shows at Somersfield Academy at 9.00am, Victor Scott Primary at 11.00am, the City Hall steps at 12.00pm, and St. George’s Prep at 2.00pm.

A spokesperson said, “Friday’s event will help serve as the stepping stone for the overseas event and will have the group of 39 students traveling from Hamilton to the East End to perform four concerts during the day. In addition to the performance experience, it will help build confidence, motivation, and maturity.

“The Bermuda School of Music, a not-for-profit registered Bermuda charity, has been providing music education to the island since 1978, commencing with the Dunbarton School of Music. Currently, with approximately 1,000 students, its aim is to provide community music programmes for students of all ages and in areas of need.”
