Shaun Goater: Nahki Wells Is “Doing Us Proud”
With his steady play earning him new accolades – such as being named Huddersfield Town’s ‘player of the month’ for December – Nahki Wells continues to receive praise for his prowess, including a recent tweet by Bermudian athlete Shaun Goater, who said Wells is “doing us proud” as a “Bermuda flag bearer.”
Mr. Goater’s tweet referenced Wells’ most recent goal, a last minute penalty scored in his 200th appearance in English football.
One of the best Bermudian athletes of all time, Goater made his international debut for Bermuda at age 17, and scored over 30 goals for the island in international matches.
He scored 103 goals in 189 games for Manchester City, who named June 21st as “Shaun Goater Day” in his honour.
