Bermuda’s Top 50 Twitter List For February 2016

The big news for Twitter in January was making livestreaming more available to the wider public.

On January 12 it no longer required people to have the Periscope app to watch events live if you are on the IOS platform. Now the broadcast will autoplay directly in Twitter. Once a Twitter user taps the video, it goes full-screen and the comments and hearts from other viewers will visible.

The move should massively increase the audience for livestream events.

On the local Twitterverse, Oracle Team USA dropped two spots in the top 10 to number seven. WWE and FOX Commentator John Layfield continues his Nelson hold on the top spot with more than 681,000 followers. The America’s Cup is a distant second at 83,000 followers with Collie Buddz, Duddley Duddley and Don Burgess rounding out the top five.

Nothing To Do In Bermuda rejoined the list at number 50 as triathlete’s Nikki Butterfield account disappeared.

The other big local Twitter news is the @ACEGroup account transformed into @Chubb after ACE’s acquisition of Twitter went into effect in January. Chubb is #14 for the month.
