Court: Woman Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

February 12, 2016

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo sentenced Ms Trimiea Roland to twenty-four months in prison after she admitted burglarizing a St Georges residence and handling items stolen from that house.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that earlier this month, in the late morning, a neighbour had seen the 27-year-old going around the neighbourhood knocking on doors.

Ms Roland knocked on her door but she sent Ms Roland away. She saw Ms Roland go to an upper apartment, which the neighbour knew was lived in by a woman who had gone to work.

Around noon that same day, Ms Roland was seen, in the neighbourhood, trying to sell some gold jewellery . Police were called and neighbours collaborated in restraining Ms Roland before Police arrived. Once the Police were on scene, they arrested Ms Roland who then became combative and accused neighbours of lying.

A burglary was confirmed when the woman who lived in the upper apartment was called in from work and she positively identified the items confiscated from Ms Roland as her belongings.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that given Ms Roland’s previous record, incarceration seemed an appropriate sentence.
