Eron Hill Acquitted On All Nine Counts

April 20, 2026

The Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative said they “acknowledge the unanimous verdict of not guilty on all nine counts in the court matter concerning our Founder and Executive Director, Eron S.L. Hill.”

A spokesperson said, “This outcome represents a clear and decisive affirmation of the rule of law and the constitutional protections afforded to every Bermudian. It reinforces the fundamental principle that justice must be grounded in evidence, fairness, and the disciplined application of legal standards: free from fear, influence, or overreach.

“Over the past several years, this process has been both demanding and deeply instructive. It has tested resolve, but it has also strengthened BEJI’s commitment to its mission: advancing fair and equal access to justice across Bermuda and ensuring that constitutional rights are not merely theoretical, but lived realities.”

Reflecting on this journey, Mr. Hill stated: “This has been a difficult and, at times, gruelling journey—but also one of profound learning and growth. I have gained a deeper understanding not only of the law, but of resilience, purpose, and responsibility.

“Everything happens for a reason, and I will carry these lessons forward as a foundation for what comes next. With this chapter now behind me, I can proceed to complete my pupillage and take the final steps toward being called to the Bermuda Bar, so that I can continue advocating—formally and fearlessly—for those who need and deserve access to justice the most.”

A spokesperson added, “BEJI extends its sincere gratitude to the community, supporters, and all those who stood firm throughout this process. That collective strength has been instrumental, and it continues to fuel the work ahead.

“BEJI will continue to advance several key initiatives, including:

  • “Strengthening advocacy efforts focused on police accountability, prosecutorial fairness, and constitutional protections;
  • “Collaboratively working with the Ministry of Justice to reform the Prison Rules and Legal Aid Regime
  • “Launching the Dr. Courtenay Griffiths Justice Scholarship, valued at $5,000 per annum
  • “Building strategic partnerships to address systemic inequities and drive meaningful justice reform.

“The marathon pursuit of fair and equal access to justice for all continues.”

Eron Hill said, “I am humbled and deeply grateful to the jury for their care, their courage, and their commitment to justice. I also thank the Court for ensuring a fair and principled process.

“From the beginning, I maintained that these charges were an abuse of police power and should never have been brought. Over the past three years, this has been a difficult and, at times, grueling journey. But it has also been a period of profound learning and growth. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I will carry these lessons forward, using this experience as a foundation for purpose and progress.

“I am grateful to everyone who stood by me throughout this process. And to those I serve through the Bermuda Equal Justice Initiative, this has only strengthened my resolve and now that this court process is over, I can proceed to completing my pupillage so that I can be Called to the Bermuda Bar and advocate in Court for those who need and deserve it most.

“The jury’s unanimous verdict does more than vindicate me; it affirms the constitutional rights that protect every Bermudian.

“The marathon pursuit of fair and equal access to justice for all continues.”
