BPS Advisory: Woman Claims Bike Broke Down
The police have advised about a woman who go to homes saying that her motorbike has broken down and she needs money to fix it, and have asked the public that if “someone comes to your home with a similar method of operation and appears to be suspicious” please ask for a name, get a full description and call the police.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public about a woman who goes around to homes and states that her motorbike has broken down, and she needs money to fix the bike.
“If someone comes to your home with a similar method of operation and appears to be suspicious, please ask for a name, then get a full description and call the police on 2950011.”
Sooo this is where the police are focusing their efforts.
Awesome.
Good job guys
Rude
Just because they are asking people to be aware doesn’t mean they aren’t focusing on other things. Can’t you walk and chew gum at the same time?
Clearly not. Difficult to walk with one’s feet in one’s mouth.
I am glad the police are informing the public of this situation. I like a lot of working Bermudians have an elderly parent at home days alone who might just fall prey to a person like this. Unlike you the police can multi-task.
I know another person who used to push his cycle along PITTS BAY hitting up tourist cuz his gas ran out and he has to pick up his daughter from dance class
this person is still doing this to this day, their methods have not changed except now they carry a helmet and say that they have to pick daughter up from school or take daughter to hospital and if its not the daughter its the granddaughter. They frequent Serpentine Rd A LOT!. Told me they cannot work because they are disabled.
Sounds like they need to go human rights if really disabled
One of them died a few years ago
There were 3 brothers
You say “used to”, I haven’t seen him in a minute either. Has he moved on to bigger and better schemes?
There is a guy who does that all over Hamilton. I have been very unfriendly to him on many occasions. Just a few Saturday’s ago, he was doing it outside the Banks on Bermudiana Road.
Yes, he actually came to my house and asked the same thing… turned him away. then the f’ing started.. good thing my dog wasn’t out!
The police know who she is. Her name and description have been given.
I hope they get her she came to me in a bar I told her go.. she is tall dark skin big eyes an talks like she is a bit slow she is on drugs hope you get her
Thank you for giving a description – I would hate to tell some young lady in actual distress to bugger off if she truly needed help. I’m not sure why the police didn’t give the description?
A friend recently emailed this to me so thought I would pass it on because we old guys need to be wary.
A ‘heads up’ for those men who may be regular customers at Gorham’s, Masters, Supermart or even Miles…
Last month I became a victim of a clever scam while shopping. Simply going to get supplies turned out to be quite traumatic. Don’t be naïve enough to think it couldn’t happen to you or your friends.
Here’s how the scam works:
Woman washing car windshield scam
Two nice-looking, college-aged girls, in short shorts, will come up to your vehicle as you are putting away your purchases. They both start wiping your windshield with soap and water, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. (It’s impossible not to look).
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say ‘No’ but instead ask for a ride to Ice Queen. You agree and they climb in the vehicle. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen January 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also, February 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 27th, and very likely again this upcoming weekend.
So tell your friends to be careful.
What a horrible way to take advantage of us older men.
Warn your friends to be vigilant.
By the way, Gibbons has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for $.99 at the Two Dollar Store and bought them out in three of their stores.
Also, you never get to eat at Ice Queen. I’ve already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth from Gorham’s, Masters, Supermart and Miles… etc.
So please, send this on to all the senior men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam. (The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)
Or if they’re saying they are a charity for preserve marriage…
This lady came to my house a few weeks ago(if not a little longer) in the dark…. Older, heavier black woman. It was very strange and we just told her that we couldn’t help her. Her story just didn’t make any sense – claimed her bike broke down at/by Crawl Gas Station but walked all the way up Crawl Hill and up my very very dark driveway to knock on my door… no lady, go away!
I was driving taxi one night along Crawl Hill and she flagged me down and offered to give me a a certain act for a ride. I declined, realized my mistake by Flatts turned around and she was gone, guess she got her free ride,
Ya she has been to our house as well up Crawl Hill. Banged on our door like she was the police. Saw her on our street yesterday flagging down cars with the same story.
She knocked really loudly on my door on Sunday near Shelly Bay, but I didn’t answer. I saw (out my window) her go to my neighbors house right after and someone at their door talked to her. I wasn’t sure what was said but then she walked off up North Shore. Fits the description.
Yes I have seen her before. Very sad! She is on drugs and her husband is locked up
I have already gave the police this lady name. She has been to my house twice.
Sad.
I hope she gets help.
big eyes?…crack…possibly heroin too….combined with stupid…..she’ll probably get dog bit.
Arthur conen Doyle …don’t you just hate spelling corrections?
