Court: Pair Deny Possessing Cocaine & Heroin
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [March 3], two people denied charges alleging that they possessed cannabis, crack cocaine, and heroin.
34-year-old Malachi Everson and 57-year-old Jan Soares both pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read out to them in this morning’s Plea Court session.
Both Everson and Soares denied that on 5th May 2015, they were in an Increased Penalty Zone, with the zone being within 300 yards of a daycare centre; and that they possessed cannabis, crack cocaine, and diamorphine [heroin] with the heroin and cocaine allegedly intended for supply.
They also denied having a silver metal grinder that was fitted for and intended for use with controlled drugs.
The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that the alleged amounts and value of the alleged drugs were $13,575 for the alleged 43.4 grams of crack cocaine and $9,200 for the alleged 2.48 grams of heroin.
The Magistrate set trial for May 2016, granted each person bail at $15,000, and both were each required to provide a surety in a like amount.
