Bermuda’s CARIFTA Swim Team did the island proud in Martinique.

The swimmers won 21 medals and two youngsters qualified for the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC) with triple-A times and personal best performances.

Arriving back in Bermuda earlier this week, a handful of the young athletes spoke to us about the championships.

Sam Williamson won two bronze medals and is looking for “silver and gold next time” while Jessica Bruton said she enjoyed competing with athletes from other countries.

Bronze medal winner Jesse Washington said the completion was tough but was pleased with a new personal best, and silver medal winner Shannon Hassell was also delighted with her achievement.
