April 11, 2016

The Centre on Philanthropy said they celebrate “volunteerism in Bermuda and would like to recognize and thank Bermuda’s volunteers for their vital contributions to our Island.”

According to Points of Light, the world’s largest organisation dedicated to volunteer service, “National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. It is a time to celebrate people doing extraordinary things through service.”

The Centre said, “This year marked The Centre on Philanthropy’s 10th Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception. Together with our non-profit membership, 53 volunteers were recognized for their exceptional service and commitment to our community. We applaud the countless volunteers who give freely of their time, energy and talent to our island!

“Another reason to celebrate! On May 15th, 2016 we will recognize Bermuda’s Youth Volunteers at the Allied World Family Community Day to be held at Victoria Park. This is a community event facilitated by The Centre on Philanthropy to promote families volunteering together.

“Families will experience firsthand, the joy of giving back as they participate in meaningful volunteer projects. They also have the opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities and what Bermuda’s non-profits are doing in the community.

“This fun-filled family event is open to the community and all are welcome to come learn about volunteerism and celebrate together the outstanding efforts of our Youth.
