The Bermuda Industrial Union’s gas station re-opened on Friday after undergoing three months of renovations, and the BIU welcomes everyone to “come by and check us out.”

A statement on the BIU’s website said, “Union Gas re-open its doors to the public Friday, April 8th at 7am after three months of much needed renovations. We are planning our grand opening celebration on May 21st and hope that our members and patrons will come by and join in the celebration.”

I filled up my bike there on Sunday. They let someone else fill up their bike while leaving the motor running, which is obviously extremely dangerous. Advice to management – make sure your staff enforce the basic rules for customers or you may see your new station go up in a fireball if they allow that type of stupidity to occur.

“come by and check us out.” No!…No!….No!…No!

    • Kangoocar says:

Totally agree, I will never support a business that is owned by the very union ( BIU ) that has no problem causing carnage to our economy such as they did a few weeks ago!!! I stopped going to the Liberty Theater many years ago for the same reason, even though the theater is owned by someone else, I don’t want one CENT of my money going to the BIU through rents paid to them either!!!!

  3. Onion Juice says:

Very neat. For all those who are concerned about a Co-op opening up again, this is a good test to see if you can support a gas satation first, if you can’t, then shut de F!@# up about a Co-op opening.

    • I feel you says:

I hear your but we also need to keep in mind why support fell.
when I was growing up I was not educated in what it meant to shop at Co-Op now as an adult I finally understand. I think there needs to be a yearly event to educate the kids on what those places mean and what it means to support them. growing up I was so poor I was always told to shop for the cheapest price but at the end of the day that was not best in the long run. I wonder how many kids understand?

Wonderful! So proud of the Union and Chris Furbert for getting this done for the community.

I would like to thank all the foreign (mainly Jamaican) workers who continued to work on the gas station for the ENTIRETY of the ‘island-wide’ protest…

Everyone, please understand the deceit. Rev Tweed, here on a work permit. BIU gas station fully operational while the BIU called for an ‘island-wide’ withdrawal of labor. There is a SERIOUS issue of Diabetes, Laziness, and self-denial on this island.

  5. HA HA says:

Did they simply renovate the chip displays? lol

  6. Sage says:

Nice to see the shelves are all stocked for the fake hunger striker.

  7. hmmm says:

Pay money into the fat cats at the union pockets…..I think I’ll pass on it.

  8. Build a Better Bermuda says:

Couldn’t help but notice that while the unions were calling for a work withdrawal in relation to the pathways, the work continued on their gas station.

    • Time Shall Tell says:

Not all workers or companies working at the gas station site where unionized.

      • Sage says:

And not all workers at the site were Bermudian!!

  9. Bomon from born says:

Looking nice! Would definitely go check it out if the union wasn’t such a bunch of tired dopey biyes who yell and scream too much.

    • Whimsical says:

      Great news….

To those that have an issue there are plenty of other gas stations to choose from….

  10. Malcolm says:

Those new pumps don’t take debit cards.
They then could make money all night with self sevice.
