BASA Update Long Course Meter Records
The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association has updated Long Course Meter records after the following meets: CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Martinique; Etobicoke Pentathlon in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada; Arena Pro Series at Mesa, Arizona and the British Swimming Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
XXXI CARIFTA Swimming Championships – March 22nd – 25th, 2016 – Le Lamentin, Martinique
11 and 12 Boys
Jack Harvey broke his own 200m Backstroke, record of 2:37.44 set on May 24th, 2015, when he clocked 2:36.42 during the preliminaries. Harvey then lowered that record in the Final clocking a time of 2:34.40.
Sam Williamson recorded a 50m Breaststroke record time of 35.90, breaking Keagan Woolley’s record of 37.41 set on December 12th, 2015. Williamson then set a new 100m Breaststroke record of 1:21.57 during the preliminaries, breaking Wooley’s record of 1:22.23 set on December 12th, 2015.
Williamson during the 100m Breaststroke Final clocked 1:19.43, breaking his own record of 1:21.57, Williamson then set a new 200m Breaststroke record of 2:56.53, breaking Chris Garcelon’s record of 2:59.37 set on May 6th, 2004.
13 and 14 Girls
Emma Harvey set a new 100m Freestyle record of 59.34, breaking Madelyn Moore’s record of 0:59.39 set on January 25th, 2015. Harvey then set a new 100 Backstroke record of 1:06.60, breaking her own record of 1:06.94 set on March 13th, 2016.
Harvey clocked a 200m Backstroke record time of 2:25.72, breaking Rebecca Sharpe’s record of 2:31.64 set on July 7th, 2006, Harvey then set a new 200m Individual Medley record of 2:29.54 during the preliminaries, she would return in the Final and break her own record with a time of 2:26.69.
Harvey next set a new 400 Individual Medley record time of 5:16.20, breaking her own record of 5:24.64 set on April 5th, 2015.
15 and 16 Girls
Madelyn Moore is the new 50m Butterfly record holder with a time of 29.28, breaking Ashley Yearwood’s record of 0:29.50 set on July 2nd, 2011.
15 and 16 Boys
Jesse Washington is now the 50m Freestyle record holder with a time of 24.41 during the preliminaries breaking Benedict Parfit’s record of 0:24.67 set on February 5th, 2011, Washington returned to break his own record touching the wall in a time of 24.35.
Washington broke his own 100m Freestyle record of 53.12 set on July 30th, 2015 with a time of 52.49, Washington also broke his own 50m Butterfly record of 26.32 set on August 2nd, 2015 clocking a time of 26.19. Jesse Washington set a new 50m Butterfly record of 26.16, breaking his own record of 0:26.19 set on March 23rd, 2016.
17 and 18 Girls
Vanessa Esposito broke her own 400m Freestyle own record of 4:36.94 set on February 20th, 2016 when she touched the wall in a time of 4:35.50, Esposito also broke her own 800m Freestyle record of 9:47.59 set on February 18th, 2016 when she clocked 9:33.77.

Elijah Daley is the new 100m Butterfly record holder with a tie of 1:17.65, breaking Mitchell Gariepy’s record of 1:23.02 set on June 26th, 2010, Daley also set a new 100m Backstroke record of 1:19.86, breaking Gariepy’s record of 1:23.73 set on June 25th, 2010.

Bermuda Male [Open]
Julian Fletcher broke his own 100m Breaststroke record of 1:03.58 set on May 27th, 2012 when he clocked 1:03.11.
British Swimming Championships – April 12th – 17th, 2016 – Glasgow, Scotland
13 and 14 Girls
Emma Harvey broke her own 100m Butterfly record of 1:03.49 set on February 27th, 2016 with a time of 1:03.34.
