Four Men Assault & Rob Man At The Beach Bar

May 9, 2016

[Updated[ Around 3am on Saturday [May 7] police responded to a robbery at the Beach Bistro on Front Street in which four males assaulted the male victim inside the bathroom and grabbed a chain from  his neck.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 3am on Saturday 7th May, police responded to a report of a robbery, which occurred at the Beach Bistro on Front Street.

“It was reported that 4 unknown males assaulted the male victim inside the bathroom area of the establishment. The suspects grabbed a chain from the victim’s neck and left the area.

“As a result of the attack, the victim received a bump to the back of his head and swelling to the face.

“One of the suspects was described as dark complexioned, of stocky build approximately 5’ 8″ tall and in his mid twenties. Police are appealing to anyone who may have information on this incident to call 295-0011.”

Update 10.42pm: Rick Olson, the owner of the Beach, said that when there is an incident the police need to identify themselves to the Manager and “that never happened.”

Mr Olson said that the “alleged victim” was “asked to leave as he was intoxicated and never said anything about being robbed at the time of his removal,” and also added that he “continually attempted to regain entry.”

“The alleged victim contacted us around noon the next day reporting that he was robbed. That was the first we heard of it. We told him to contact the police and they followed up shortly after,” Mr Olson added.

Update May 10, 9.52am: The victim contacted us and he disputes Mr Olson’s statement that he was asked to leave, saying: “They never asked me to leave and I was never escorted out.”

He also said, “I went to the police the very next day and followed up with a report,” which seems to back up what Mr Olson said about the police being informed the next day.

He said he is a visitor to the island, from the United States, and frequently travels to Bermuda.

So everyone on the Island wants to know……… why did ZBM just report estimated 40 incidents of robbery theft or assault on the news in relation to your Beach CLUB??? That place is not safe and I’m glad the Government is taking the steps to fix it!!

It will be interesting to know if there was cctv in the club fully capable of videotaping all persons involved in this robbery. It will very very interesting if no one appears in court in the next week or so.

    • Serious though says:

@mmm, you have no idea ..

  22. Rick Olson says:

We have cameras everywhere except the bathroom which would be a good idea as a preventative measure as most problems start there.

    • RBYC member says:

So all 40 problems happened in the bathroom. LOL

  23. Serious though says:

Lets call a spade a spade not a big spoon, if there are problem , fix it, no spin off required from owners, next time the worst could happen. Sometimes love of $$$$$ is just the start of serious repercussions ..Don’t forget, Bermudians will eventually find out the truth if they haven’t yet., and share it too

Remember this: There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don’t know we don’t know. Donald Rumsfeld

  24. Rick says:

BERMUDIANS will find out the truth bring your popcorn I will be vindicated .

  25. Carl ONeal says:

I am the victim i came forward that night and followed up with a report I even messaged rick olson on facebook. He is lying.

  26. I love bermuda says:

I am a 30 plus female, for as long as I’ve been going out I’ve love to go to the Beach but ever since these ‘lil’ wanna be gangster’s have been going there, I like many have stopped going there after 9pm or 10pm since the Beach got rid of the Red Shirts. My reason for this is because even though the Red Shirts were friendly with EVERYONE they had the respect of these wanna be’s so there wasn’t hardly any issues, yes there were some. I’m not saying there weren’t any. Now I will never step foot in the Beach after 9pm I’ve been once and I’m sorry but the new security do not have the respect of anyone that comes in or out of the Beach.
