Coalition Completes 9th Year: Serving Breakfast
The Coalition for the Protection of Children is marking their 9th year of serving breakfast in schools, having served close to 50,000 breakfasts.
Sheelagh Cooper said, “This week will mark the end of our 9th year of serving breakfast in Government schools. This year we added a 10th school and served close to 50,000 breakfast.
“We want to thanks our numerous corporate and individual donors as well as the volunteers who serve the breakfast for their tremendous support.
“in addition to our Breakfast for every child program in the schools more than 250 families have benefited from our food storehouse where families can come in and pick up basic necessities for cooking at home. The need for both of these programs have grown exponentially since we began in 2007.
“We anticipate subsidizing in the neighborhood of 100 children this summer for camp and we hope to provide those children with lunches as well.
“We have had good success from individuals who have worked together with their co workers to collect non perishable food once a week and we come by once a week and pick the food up.
“This has gone a long way to helping us deal with the increase in demand in our storehouse. Its a great way for people who want to help to get involved. Anyone who would like to collect food can email us at cpc@logic.bm or call 295 1150.”
