KFC Customers Donate To Bermuda Red Cross
Last month was Red Cross month in Bermuda, and the Bermuda Red Cross approached KFC to help them raise awareness of Red Cross activities in the community and solicit donations in support of Red Cross programmes in Bermuda.
Throughout the month of May, KFC customers were asked to add $1 to their purchase in order to support the Bermuda Red Cross. When asked to help, KFC customers responded generously – 4,223 times.
Long-time KFC cashier Lillian Grant was instrumental in helping this fundraising campaign succeed as she was the top fund raiser collecting nearly half of the customer donations raised.
Jason Benevides, Vice President of KFC Operations Ltd., “KFC has been part of Bermuda culture and the Bermuda community for more than four decades.
“Overwhelmingly both our staff and customers are Bermudians, so when we are given an opportunity to assist local organisations who support the community in which we all live, we are glad to help when we can.”

Following the presentation to the Red Cross of the $4,223 cheque representing KFC customer donations, KFC General Manager Ginene McSwain said, “KFC is very much a part of the local community in Bermuda and seeks to support initiatives which benefit our customers, our staff, and the wider community.
“We are very grateful to our community minded customers in helping us support such a worthwhile cause.”
Red Cross Fundraising & Communications Manager Suzanne DeCouto said “Through this campaign and past initiatives KFC and its customers have shown themselves to be great friends of the Bermuda Red Cross and we could not be more thankful for their latest generous contribution to our community programmes.
“The Red Cross will put these funds to work in the local community to the benefit of all Bermuda residents. We are grateful for KFC’s efforts and look forward to working with them again.”
