Video: Atlantic Rugby Cup Players At Airport

June 2, 2016

Visiting players taking part in Saturday’s Atlantic Rugby Cup at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire arrived at Bermuda’s LF Wade International Airport earlier this evening [June 2].

Atlantic Rugby Cup organiser Gareth Nokes spoke with Harlequins’ Ugochukwu “Ugo” Chiedozie Monye and Saracens’ Ben Spencer.

Ugo Monye said, “Great to be back. I was here last year. The weather’s fantastic. A little bit colder than what it was, but really excited for clearly the game on Saturday and getting around with scores and seeing how things have progressed.”

Gareth noted that Saracens had quite a season in the end, playing in the European Champion’s Cup Final and asked Ben Spencer for his thoughts who said, “Yeah, it was good. Obviously I didn’t play too much, but to end the season like we did showed how close we were as a squad for the whole season. It was pretty tough all the way through, but it was great to get that.”

Commenting on his third visit to the island and what keeps him coming back, Ben said, “The weather, but like Ugo said it’s not great, but … No, it should be a great week, and hopefully we’ll have some fun.”

When asked what his expectations were for the game on Saturday, Ugo said, “We’ve got a mixture of people, we’ve got guys like Ben who’s just won two trophies in the last couple of weeks, then you got old guys like me that are retiring this season.

“Either way, it’s going to be expansive. It’s going to be a lot of fun. It was pretty competitive last year. I think Harlequins won. I’ve had a look at Barbarians team, and they look pretty tasty this year.”
