  6. Kangoocar says:

Barney Phife, wanna be??? What an inbecille?? Anyway, I am sure he will have a good explanation and the justice system will slap him on the wrist and he will be on his way? Let’s see if he really gets the max sentence for being in possession of a fire arm, and better yet, let’s see if the police actually have it now in their possession??

  7. wahoo says:

So turns out he shot himself….will his insurance company cover DUMB? Or do we spread the cost out to the general public since it takes a village?

  8. John says:

Someone help the dumb fools (eyes roll upwards)

  9. Jane G says:

‘What appeared to be a handgun’ is it a gun or not? Try Googling a picture. Surely if it was a self inflicted gunshot wound we can rule out a machete.

    • jt says:

      ‘Hand’ gun. Indeed.

    • Some young men are prepared to march right into hell and take up residence there. Their strapped with guns, drugs, criminal minds and a backup of unbelievable defenders who is assisting them to gain access, their trailing behind them.

Who will protect him – expect to be an accidental victim.

    • Legalgal says:

Yes it is frightening when our police cannot identify a firearm! At least we have one weapon, and with a good prosecution, one potential murderer off our streets.

  10. JohnBoy says:

Obviously NOT a Bermuda Regiment graduate.

  11. Thinker says:

  15. takbir Sharrieff says:

Interesting how the pundits try and make a joke of everything.serious and dangerous. What kind of mentality does this, snickers at everything giggles at everything, laugh at everything, then wants us the general public to take them Serious.I wish they would have the guts to put their real names to their comments.Guess they are really scared stiff and that is their way of trying to sound macho, but really they sound like the sniveling little punks that they really are. That handling of firearms ,drugs, and violence is a serious matter,Let the police and the courts do their very serious jobs.Peace.

    • aceboy says:

If this fool was shot by someone else we’d all be hearing, as usual, how the poor boy had just turned his life around and how caring and loving he was. Let’s be honest, these punks endanger all of us and this shows exactly why, they have no idea how to handle a deadly weapon. For them it is a source of power and that’s about it. Yes it is a serious matter but I for one am happy he shot himself. Now he can face the consequences of handling his power source instead of an innocent feeling the brunt. These idiots don’t care about you or me or anyone else. They DESREVE what they get. The island needs to stop coddling them when they get caught. At least this guy will have a hole in himself and now knows what it feels like.

  16. Juicy Onion says:

Another case of mistaken I D?

  17. Not the island I grew up in . says:

It baffles my mind at some of the comments that are posted to these stories. I get it , we try to make light of bad situations , but this is not something to make light of . This gentleman who shot himself is indeed in big trouble , and widget is the only one that has put some perspective on the incident . This gun may be linked to one or multiple shootings ,forensics now has the job of tying this weapon to other crimes . It pains my heart deeply every day when I wake up to the news . Bermuda used to be ” Another World ” now we are just like the rest of the world .

    • Lenny Avery says:

      “Big trouble”
He’ll get a few years and be out in half the time.

      • wahoo says:

Also no gentleman. Sorry. He had a gun. He is public enemy number one at this time.

  18. White black boy says:

Obviously the gun will have been moved before he went hospital and the police arriving at his residence to search …..

  19. drunken ursula says:

hope that gun wasn’t used in any other crimes???????

  20. Real Deal says:

Wow when I saw the head line I was like “No way A gun Suicide in Bermuda?” Self inflicted gun shot wound is so commonplace in USA headlines

  21. watchfuleyes says:

Let me get this straight…it was a self inflicted wound yet they are calling for witnesses? Hmmmmmmm. Does he have amnesia?

  22. There is an interesting thing going on in U.S.
utube has …or perhaps another more. graphic tube his showing this happening as punishment for infraction.

  23. David says:

For better or for worse… Same Bermuda.

It’s the same Bermuda we all love. Just that people have changed. Everything we do (or don’t do) today, will create the tomorrow we will live in. We raise children different ways (influenced by wealth or poverty), but we are all affected by results. We send our children off to school… God knows what they experience while trying to study, or who they really become. We don’t really know where any loyalties truly lie. But most return speaking Greek and Latin for life. Foreigners come and go, some marry and remain. Even outside media bombard our little society. We have become so hungry for wealth, we don’t care who creates it for us or at what price.

We all have added a piece to our current state of affairs. We can all fix it.

  24. Northshore says:

20 YEARS FOR HAVING A FIREARM PERIOD, GO DIRECT TO JAIL!

  25. Widget says:

    @Northshore.

No not good. By giving them 20 they”ll be out in 6-1/2 years. I say give them life without any chances of release. Now that will make them think twice about handling a gum. Oh and let’s add a South American prison to the mix, that should make a few of them think twice about there behavior. Regrettably not all of them.
