Premier’s Trip To Turks & Caicos Cost $2,401

A trip in July 2016 by Premier Michael Dunkley to the Turks and Caicos Islands cost $2,401.00, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from Tuesday, July 19, 2016 – Friday, July 22, 2016, and the web page listing said, “Michael H. Dunkley, Premier of Bermuda, attended the pre-Joint Ministerial Council Meetings in Turks and Caicos from 19th – 22nd July, 2016.

“The meetings are held annually, and serve to bring together the leaders of the UK Overseas Territories to plan for the upcoming annual meeting of OT Leaders with UK Ministers.

“Leaders discussed the impact of the UK withdrawal from the European Union on the Territories, sustainable economic development, child safeguarding, financial services, and the UK – OT relationship, among other topics of mutual concern.

“As is the norm for such meetings, the Leaders’ hotel costs are accommodated by the host country.

“The Premier was accompanied at the meetings by Ms. Kimberley Durrant, Director of Bermuda’s London Office and UK Representative, and Dr. Derrick Binns, Secretary to the Cabinet.”
