Video & Photos: Swizzle Inn Oktoberfest Launch

September 30, 2016

Oktoberfest at the Swizzle Inn Baileys Bay is in it’s fourth year and has become one of the biggest events of the year at Bermuda’s oldest pub.

Swizzle Ltd. President Jay Correia said, “The emphasis on this event besides having fun is being as authentic as we can. With that in mind we offer real German Oktoberfest draft beer imported especially for this event: Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier is from Munich the home of Oktoberfest.

“Served in the giant steins along with other choices in bottles including Paulaner Hefe Weissbier [wheat] and Holzar Dunkel [dark]. Of course almost as important as the beer is the food.

“This year as every year we are assisted by local Bavarian chef Edi Guntl of Bavarian Brews who incidentally imports our German beer. Our menu consists of Bavarian favourites like schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerbraten and our best seller the slow roasted pork hock with crackling all accompanied by choices of German potato salad, sauerkraut, spaetzle and red cabbage.

“There’s beef and pork goulash soup, cucumber salad and for dessert none other than warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce and rich German cheesecake. Nobody leaves hungry!

“No Oktoberfest would be complete without music and this year we again have Herr Bill Krauss on guitar in his lederhosen singing all the oktoberfest favourites including Ein Prosit as well classic pub songs all taking place under the big tent decorated in blue and white the traditional colours of Oktoberfest.

.

“Seating is the same as in Munich on tables and benches that can hold up to 10 people each. Book a table and bring family and friends for a fun, delicious and traditional Bavarian experience. We welcome kids and there game stalls for all to enjoy including darts, the ring toss, Giant Jenga and a new game: dipole – all are fun.”

Reservations strongly suggested call 293-1854. The event runs from Thursday Sept 29 to Sunday October 9th. Live music begins at 7pm but the food and beer served all day! Play it safe and don’t drink and drive, we have plenty of taxis on hand.
