Court: Man Pleads Guilty To Stealing Vodka, Rum

October 11, 2016

In Magistrates Court, a 34-year-old man was remanded in custody after he admitted stealing vodka and rum from a residence.

Keivon Scott admitted entering an apartment in Pembroke last month and stealing $150 worth of vodka and rum, and was put on remand.

The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Scott had previously lived in the apartment, however, Scott had moved out.

The Prosecutor said that in September this year, knowing that he was out, neighbours had contacted the apartment occupant and told him that something was happening within his apartment.

Police were called and attended. CCTV footage showed Scott as being in the apartment at that time. After finding and arresting him, Scott admitted the entry and the theft.

Asked to explain his actions, Scott told the Magistrate that he had been struggling for years with drug addiction.

Noting that he had previous convictions, the Magistrate ordered SIR and BARC reports; that Scott was to attend Drug Treatment Court, and ruled that Scott was to be kept in custody until 24th November, when Scott was to be produced for sentencing
